Interval House Ottawa
The Interval House of Ottawa (IHO) is the oldest and largest shelter in the Ottawa region, supporting survivors of gender-based violence for over 45 years.
Interval House Ottawa works from an intersectional, feminist, and anti-oppressive framework, ensuring that their programs are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse needs of the community. IHO services support women and gender-expansive individuals, along with their children and pets, recognizing that safety must include the entire family.
Core services include emergency shelter with 10 private family bedrooms, transitional housing support, peer support groups, child and family programming, pet housing, and a crisis line with 24/7 accessibility.
Annually, IHO shelters over 100 survivors, 150 children, and 15+ pets while responding to thousands of crisis calls and creating safety plans. Committed to equity, IHO stands in solidarity with Indigenous communities disproportionately affected by violence due to systemic issues.
